The KBD9000's control functions include pan/tilt, zoom, focus, iris, camera power, auto/manual scan, and auxiliary operation all via easy-to-use keyboard commands. The control functions operate simultaneously over the same coaxial cable as the video transmission by utilizing the vertical blanking interval, during which pulses are superimposed upon the normal video signal at a point where it is unnoticeable on the monitor. Thus, need for additional control cables is eliminated. Coaxitron control is ideal in applications where short-to-medium distances are involved (up to 1500ft/457m).
The simplest system configuration consists of the KBD9000 transmitter/controller, coaxial cable, receiver, and camera/pan and tilt system. This basic Coaxitron system is flexible and can be expanded to control multiple camera sites with the addition of passive switching device. In addition, multiple KBD9000 transmitters/controllers can control multiple receivers if a more complex system is required.
